The Recovery Technology Category

Recovery is the lever
most men never use.

An education-first overview of the technologies driving the modern recovery and longevity conversation — and why the men holding their edge into their fifties and sixties have already integrated them.

Hard work has a ceiling.
Recovery is the lever.

The performers who hold their edge into their fifties, sixties, and seventies are not training harder than everyone else — they are recovering smarter. After 45, the body's natural recovery systems decline measurably. Cortisol clears more slowly. Tissue repair takes longer. Inflammation lingers. The same workout that produced gains at 35 becomes a source of damage at 55 if recovery is not addressed.

Four technology categories have emerged with credible peer-reviewed research behind them. Each does something specific. None is a magic bullet. Together, they form the foundation of how serious operators recover today.

The technologies behind
modern recovery.

PEMF

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy

PEMF uses low-frequency electromagnetic pulses to stimulate cellular function — specifically, the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the body's energy currency. Originally developed for bone-fracture healing and FDA-cleared in that context since the 1970s, PEMF has expanded into broader applications for inflammation reduction, circulation, and recovery.

The research base is substantial. Peer-reviewed studies have explored PEMF for tissue repair, post-exercise recovery, and chronic inflammation. It is not a workout replacement. It is a recovery accelerator for men whose bodies are no longer recovering on their own.

Terahertz Wave

Cellular-Level Energy Resonance

Terahertz technology operates in the frequency band between microwave and infrared light. The emerging research suggests terahertz waves may influence cellular signaling and water-molecule behavior at the tissue level. The category is newer than PEMF and the body of clinical research is still developing, but early studies are notable enough to track.

For the operator interested in being early to credible technology, terahertz is one to watch. For the operator wanting only the most established evidence base, start with PEMF and red light.

Radio Frequency (RF)

Targeted Heat for Tissue and Skin

RF therapy uses radio waves to deliver controlled heat into deeper tissue layers. The applications most relevant to performance and longevity are skin remodeling (collagen stimulation), localized circulation, and a category of body composition work that targets specific tissue zones. Used widely in dermatology and increasingly in recovery contexts.

RF is best understood as a complement to other tools, not a foundation. It does specific things well — and is not trying to do everything.

Red Light Therapy

Photobiomodulation

Red and near-infrared light therapy — sometimes called photobiomodulation — works at the mitochondrial level, supporting cellular energy production and modulating inflammation. The research base is strong. Studies have explored applications across muscle recovery, skin health, sleep architecture, and cognitive performance.

Red light has moved from niche biohacker territory into mainstream wellness for one reason: it is well-studied, low-risk, and the effects are observable. It is the technology in this category most likely to be a permanent part of a man's protocol.

A Note From Steve

The integrated approach.

Lori and I have spent years inside the longevity and performance space. We have run these technologies on ourselves and watched the results. We have also watched the recovery technology market fill with mediocre devices, dubious marketing, and operators who have never used what they sell.

The men we are building Stay In The Game for deserve better than that. So we are putting together the integrated approach — the right combination of medical protocols, peptide therapy, hormone optimization, and the recovery technology that supports all of it. The piece on this page is one layer. The full system is more than that.
